Since visiting Dairy Creek Meadows<\/a> earlier in the summer, I’d been thinking now that’s a garden I’d love to visit in fall to catch the seasonal progression of the herbaceous planting. When HPSO sent word that the garden would be open on October 3rd, Saturday plans were scuttled to make the trip again, about an hour and 20 minutes from home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As I got close to the property I caught sight of a giant inflatable slasher villain and thought Oh, no, they’ve moved all this way into the country, only to have a seasonal pumpkin patch business for a neighbor!<\/em> Boy, did I jump to the wrong conclusion. You think you can read personalities from their gardens, the 30 acres of expansive meadow plantings, the traditional greenhouses, the cutting edge crevice gardens, and assume here lives quiet, reclusive people? Wrong again. Obviously, my deductive reasoning skills could use some work. DCM was celebrating Halloween in a big way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
