\nOversees and directs one or more teams to complete grounds maintenance activities. Assures standards for safety and workmanship are met. Assists Supervisor with planning, estimation, problem solving, labor coordination and reporting. <\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Assures equipment and supplies as well as general logistics are coordinated between teams
\n\u2022 Assists team leads and supervisors with planning and scheduling regular and specialized gardens and grounds maintenance activities
\n\u2022 Assists supervisor in information gathering and planning
\n\u2022 Reports problems and issues and assists with resolution
\n\u2022 Maintains regular contact with the Facilities help desk and other staff
\n\u2022 May assist team with hands-on production work
\n\u2022 Demonstrates work and provides training to subordinates and teams<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 High school or GED preferred
\n\u2022 10+ years experience in an institutional setting where fine gardening is practiced
\n\u2022 Bi-lingual skills in Spanish and English
\n\u2022 Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
\n\u2022 Requires a California driver’s license with fewer than three DMV points
\n\u2022 Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
\n\u2022 Must be able to work in adverse weather and environmental conditions as well as uneven terrain
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to organize daily work and instruct team members to complete work assigned
\n\u2022 Proficient knowledge of irrigation control and distribution systems
\n\u2022 Advanced knowledge of landscape construction techniques and maintenance<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Ability to communicate via radio and phone
\n\u2022 Ability to communicate basic information in writing as well as understand written communication
\n\u2022 Basic computer skills with office software and email applications and demonstrated experience with irrigation control and distribution systems
\n\u2022 Must have demonstrated skills and\/or certificate, licensing in one or more of the following areas:
\narboriculture, pesticide handling and application, heavy equipment operation, lift operation, tractor operation, irrigation management, general horticulture including soil\/water relationships, plant identification, turf management, wildfire fuel management and regulations, and safe work practices<\/p>\n

\nPerforms grounds maintenance activities required for care of fine gardens, public and back of house areas as well as unimproved areas of Getty properties.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Under direct supervision, completes grounds maintenance activities including but not limited to gardening, equipment operation, materials transport, agricultural chemical application, and general labor
\n\u2022 Maintains the appearance and safety of Getty gardens and grounds, including plantings, lawns, trees, hillsides, roads and undeveloped acreage
\n\u2022 Waters, trims and prunes plants, shrubs, trees, and hedges and sprays pesticides on plantings, when appropriate
\n\u2022 Monitors soil conditions, puts in new plantings and removes old
\n\u2022 Maintains irrigation systems and may perform minor plumbing repairs
\n\u2022 Drives tractors and trucks and operates grounds maintenance equipment and tools
\n\u2022 May respond to questions about the grounds and gardens<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 High school or GED preferred
\n\u2022 Previous related work experience
\n\u2022 Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
\n\u2022 Requires a California driver’s license with fewer than three DMV points
\n\u2022 Must be able to follow verbal instructions
\n\u2022 Must be able to work in adverse weather and uneven terrain<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Knowledge and experience with landscape tools and equipment such as weed whips, mowers, and hand tools
\n\u2022 Fundamental knowledge of and experience in grounds care
\n\u2022 Able to work in extreme weather conditions
\n\u2022 Ability to use and carry common landscape power tools
\n\u2022 Ability to work in rough terrain and other adverse landscape conditions
\n\u2022 Ability to understand spoken communication
\n\u2022 Willingness and ability to work varied hours and overtime as needed
\n\u2022 Knowledge and ability to work in team setting or alone
\n\u2022 Must be capable of prolonged, very physically challenging work including lifting, carrying, twisting, walking knelling as required for landscape work<\/p>\n
