The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mapress.com\/phytotaxa\/content\/2013\/f\/pt00076p014.pdf\">genus aloe<\/a> has just become slightly more complicated.  Memory work for 2015 will include absorbing the fan aloe&#8217;s new name <em>Kumara plicatilis<\/em>.  (See Gerhard&#8217;s very helpful post <a href=\"http:\/\/www.succulentsandmore.com\/2014\/12\/goodbye-aloe-hello-aloiampelos.html#more\">here<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012509.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012509.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I keep bringing home aloes with no tag, no name at all, as with this unlabeled hybrid.  Sometimes it&#8217;s a good thing that I don&#8217;t have that meticulous collector mindset&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012416-001.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012416-001.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aloes are in bloom all over town.  Aloe ferox<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012501.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012501.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>My Aloe cameronii with its first flower bud.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012485.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012485.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s right outside the office, where we had a shade tarp rigged all summer, so the Red Aloe didn&#8217;t get that deep coppery color to the leaves.  Next summer we&#8217;ll have to choose between that lovely ruddy coloration on the aloe or working in a sweatbox.  I know which I&#8217;d prefer.  (sorry, aloe!)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012483.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012483.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aloe conifera, a name that promises an interesting flower shape<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012490.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012490.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m guessing &#8216;Goliath&#8217; will have just a very short stay in this pot.  A Tree Aloe, with one parent Aloe vaombe, I&#8217;m not sure if this gets reclassified as aloidendron or not with only one parent, A. barberae, from aloidendron.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i52.photobucket.com\/albums\/g23\/botanizeme\/december2014\/P1012498.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\" photo P1012498.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Aloe &#8216;Kujo,&#8217; thought to be a hybrid found at the Huntington Botanical Garden.
