This spring I am not going to be drawn into running out into the garden with my camera every time I hear the whoosh of a rapid aerial descent then the whirring of tiny wings. I don’t have the stamina or the lens for it. I swear these will be the last 58 frustrating attempts at capturing this little guy on the wing.
You can just make out his mocking smile.
We’re both just not interested anymore. Really. We are so…over…hummingbirds.
Whoosh!
Is that Salvia ‘Waverly’ again? I love this plant more and more every time I see it here. It’s not hardy here in Portland, but I must give it a try.
I loved this post! Great “bored” cat shot (surrounded by beautiful foliage), and I’d say you did pretty good capturing the hummingbird too.
Cool! We love those hummers.
Ryan, yes, it is. Such a good plant here, and it’s gotten so big it’s in just about every photo.
Pam, thanks! I really need to splurge on some lenses.
Hoov, they are like little friends, they drop in so often.
that was darling! what is that urge that makes us try a zillion times to capture these little guys in action–not to mention that professional photographers have already captured them in every possible way?
Hahaha…love it. Reminds me of last year when we had so many hummers and all the neighborhood cats would just wait for them in our garden. I got so frustrated with my Salvias, especially ‘Purple Majesty’, seeming to spontaneously have stems snap and break…I though due to them being fragile. Then, one morning, I witnessed the truth…neighbor cats were lunging at the hummers as they dipped down to drink and were snapping the stems…total rage 🙁
