After leaving NYC, MB Maher headed to Iceland. Only a California photographer would want to visit Iceland in December. But Maher says the light there now is “permanent Malick,” that is, what three or four hours of daylight there is this time of year.
Obviously, this is also where all the Christmas ponies are kept. I’m still waiting for mine.
I would love to go to Iceland, at any point on the caledar, and hope you and MBM will be sharing more photos. It is almost time for me to gather up my Sigur Ros CD collection to keep in the car. They can only be played here after the Christmas decorations come down and before the Narcissus start popping up in earnest.
Les, Sigur Ros sprung to mind with this post, and Bjork too. Something about that landscape, I guess.
One of DH’s grad students recently returned from a trip to Iceland to visit his uncle who lives there. Of Chinese origin, his uncle is an expert on acupuncture. He set up a clinic in the capitol and loved it so much that he brought his family to live there permanently. DH’s student brought gorgeous photos to share with us this week. So glad MB Maher is having such wonderful opportunities!
This must have required some significant wardrobe renovation on his part..though one could compare SF to Iceland upon occasion.
I know this makes me weird, but I have wanted to go to Iceland ever since reading about Leif Erickson as a kid. I LOVE those pictures.
