Spring has definitely taken hold here in southern California, although I have to admit I’d really like to see some more rain…
Kris, you and me both, but I don’t think wishing is going to make it so this year…
I tend to think of a coastal southern California winter as the climatic equivalent of a northern California spring. In any case, the possibilities seem almost endless as long as one can irrigate. Late winter/early spring has been fabulous up here now that the February rains greened up the countryside. Magnolias and now Ceanothus and Pacific Coast Iris are fabulous right now.
David, I think it’s kind of exciting to have everyone’s hand forced by the drought. I started taking out heavy water users like roses more than 4-5 years ago and just shifted attention elsewhere — sure, I miss some plants but there’s so many amazing ones to try.
